Our Initiatives

Alaska CASA is committed to achieving excellence in our programs so that we can provide a highly trained and deeply committed CASA volunteer for every foster child in Alaska who needs one. Through ongoing professional development for our staff and volunteers, continuous improvement efforts in program operations, and ongoing outreach to raise awareness about the importance of the CASA program, we move forward toward that vision.

Our Initiatives

Elevating Cultural Competence

Recognizing the need to become more culturally competent in our programs and to ensure that CASA volunteers are able to deliver truly culturally competent advocacy to all foster children and youth, our efforts were organized and intensified in this initiative in the fall of 2013. Learn more

Fostering Futures Alaska

To better meet the unique needs of older youth at risk of "aging out" of the foster care system and experiencing a myriad of poor outcomes.  Learn more about foster futures and check out our upcoming training schedule.

Expanding CASA Programs to Tribal Courts

Tribal courts throughout Alaska are increasing capacity to handle more types of cases - including child protection. Through this initiative Alaska CASA reaches out to tribes to educate about the CASA program and provide technical assistance to tribes interested in adding a CASA program to their tribal court operations.
