Continuing Education

National CASA Association and Alaska CASA standards require each CASA volunteer to receive 12 hours of continuing education annually. Such in-service training may be obtained by attending Alaska CASA-sponsored training and/or other relevant training in the community. Volunteers can submit community-based training attended, books read and videos viewed for credit toward their continuing education requirement. Click here to download specific instructions and forms. If you have questions about what will count for continuing education credit contact your local CASA program coordinator. CASA volunteers wishing to request financial assistance to attend community-based training should download a CASAs for Children Scholarship Application.

Mary Ellen's case is widely believed to have been the catalyst for the development of a more formalized child protection system and the child advocacy movement.
